Red Wine Gravy Recipe

Red Wine Gravy Recipe

Recipe Ingredients:
Chicken or turkey and vegetables roasted in a roasting pan
3 tbsp plain flour
10 fl oz dry red wine
10 fl oz water
6 tbsp Mrs Bridges Port Wine Jelly
Recipe Instructions:
Remove the cooked meat and vegetables from the roasting pan.
Pour off all but about 2 tbsp of the fat.
Place the roasting pan over a medium heat and sprinkle over the flour.
Stir constantly with a wooden spoon for 1 minute, or until the flour has browned slightly.
Gradually add the wine, then the water, stirring constantly to loosen any pieces stuck to the bottom of the pan.
Add Mrs Bridges Port Wine Jelly.
Heat, stirring well, until the sauce has thickened and is smooth.
Simmer gently for 15 minutes, adding a little more water if necessary to reach the desired consistency.
Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
