Spaghetti Al Café
2 lbs. lean ground beef
1 clove garlic, chopped
1 can tomato sauce
12 oz. chopped mushrooms
4 medium onions, chopped
1 can whole peeled tomatoes, chopped
3/4 cup brewed strong coffee like
Connoisseur's Gold Blend
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 package spaghetti
pinch of sugar (optional)
salt, pepper, basil, and oregano to taste
Heat large pot to medium high.
Put the oil in the pot, then add onions & garlic. Brown until golden.
Add the ground beef to the pot
and brown.
Add the chopped peeled tomatoes,
mushrooms, tomato sauce, and coffee.
Simmer for 30 minutes, adding
water if necessary.
Add seasonings to taste and simmer
another 5 minutes.
Separately, cook the spaghetti
in a pot of boiling water with a little olive oil in it.
Drain spaghetti well, then serve
onto plates with sauce poured over it.
